Looking beyond our own limits
For Deloitte Brazil CEO, industry convergence brings the need for more collaboration and working in ecosystems.
September-November | 2018Industry convergence nowadays represents a natural and inevitable phenomenon, linked to several movements, such as digital transformation, Industry 4.0, innovation and the globalization of business itself. The boundaries among economic sectors have been gradually fading away, however at difference paces, depending on the segment and geographic location. In some industries, it is no longer possible to pinpoint where their sectors and subsectors start and end. This reality already affects many organizations, in an environment of full interdependence, increasingly required by new technologies and high information flows.
To compete in this new convergent world, we need to be open-minded and willing to deal with challenges that will always be new. As pointed out by Tim Hanley, Deloitte’s global leader for the Industrial and Construction Products sector – and one of our international spokespeople participating in this edition of Mundo Corporativo, “industry convergence is not a trivial challenge.” On the contrary, it drives companies to develop new mindsets and become more innovative. After all, this change also brings the need for greater collaboration, working in ecosystems and looking beyond one’s own limits.
As it could not be any different, Deloitte itself, which has the role of promoting companies transformation in this changing environment, has been changing the taxonomy that we use to classify the industries and sectors of our customers. Thus, we seek not only to adapt, but proactively promote the convergence of industries. Amid this growing convergence, we want to be closer and closer to our clients, helping to remove barriers and accelerate the future.
