Brazil can accelerate its growth with digital transformation

The development of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector is fundamental for the construction of a scenario with viable digital business models. Investments to expand this segment boost competitiveness and innovation to improve the economy and social well-being. Brazil has sought to adapt to this new reality, but still faces barriers in the implementation of telecommunication tools. The main obstacles are insufficient infrastructure, high tax rates, regulations that are not aligned with the digital reality and long bureaucratic processes.

The study “Insights on Digital Transformation and Opportunities for ICTs in Brazil” points out concrete initiatives and inclusive development perspectives so that Brazil actually integrates the digital age. The report was prepared by Deloitte with the support of Huawei and focuses on five pillars of the digital ecosystem: 5G, fiber optics, cloud computing, safe cities and talent training.

One of the areas identified by the study with potential for market expansion is the domestic ICT sector. The survey indicates that Brazil still has a low percentage of households and individuals with Internet access, with an average lower than the South American one. This finding also applies to the use of cellular telephony. Despite a wide range of offered services, the accessibility index is low compared to world levels.

Still according to the study, infrastructure should be at the center of all reflections on this topic, as it is the basis for the expansion and consolidation of the ICT sector in Brazil.
