Women in leadership
Women's presence in leadership positions progresses slowly – in Brazil, only 8,6% of them are held by women. Mundo Corporativo invited seven executives to discuss how the gender parity speech can be transformed in practical initiatives.
July-September | 2020Despite the benefits and positive business outcomes resulting from more diverse companies, women are still largely under-represented on corporate boards globally and the situation isn’t progressing fast enough. A survey conducted by Deloitte with 8,000 companies from 66 countries shows that women hold only 16,9% of leadership positions around the world, an increase of 1,9% regarding the last survey, from 2017. The study reveals that Brazil hold the 38th position from the surveyed countries, with only 8,6% of leadership positions occupied by women.
These numbers highlight a long-standing challenge for corporate governance: the slow pace of the changes that need to happen in order to achieve gender parity.
Mundo Corporativo invited seven executives to discuss the subject and understand how the diversity speech can be transformed in practical initiatives. Watch the video bellow with perspectives from Claudia Meirelles, Itaúsa HR Director; Danielle Rainha, Chief Human Resources Officer from Makro Group; Geovana Donella, board member and Donella & Partners founder; Magali Leite, Chief Financial Officer from Beneficência Portuguesa; Angela Castro, leader of Deloitte’s Delas program and Tax partner; Patricia Muricy, board member and leader of the Mining sector from Deloitte; and Roberta Yoshida, board member and leader of the Human Capital practice from Deloitte.
